Join our planting day and continue in the creation of biodiversity links as part of the Grow West program near Bacchus Marsh. This exciting project is creating links between the Werribee Gorge State Park, Lerderderg State Park, W. James Whyte Island Reserve and Brisbane Ranges National Park.
Three seminars held within the Port Phillip and Western Port region addressed the options for landholders wishing to earn an income from environmental services on their land.

Thursday 8 May, 2008 - Jells Park and Heatherdale Reserve
The Living Links Dandenong Corridor bike tour will showcase a number of on ground projects being delivered by councils, community groups and agencies and demonstrate the vision to connect native vegetation, public open spaces, parks, sporting facilities and picnic areas along the Corridor, run during Heart Week in conjunction with Bicycle Victoria.

Referred Path Planning Training will be Held by Russell Costello- Senior Native Vegetation Officer of the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), in Conjunction with Hume City Council. There will be four sessions run in the First Week of February 2008 (4th - 7th).
The session will cover general issues to do with the Native Vegetation Framework however the focus/emphasis will be on Grasslands and Grassy Woodlands.

The Melbourne Environment Report 2007 was launched on Tuesday 18 December at a public launch in Melbourne. The report contains valuable information outlining both current condition and environment trend of our region and gives a snapshot of how Melbourne's environment is faring. The report was received by the Minister for Environment and Climate Change Mr Gavin Jennings and presented by Balnarring Primary School students.

The tour, which departed Hastings Jetty and circumnavigated French Island, brought 35 people from Environment agencies, councils and scientific organizations together to learn about and discuss the state of Western Port, its Marine National Parks and the many projects that are helping to protect and rehabilitate biodiversity its coastal zone, its water quality and its catchment.

The meeting on board the Survey Vessel ‘ Pelican’ brought together about 25 senior people from relevant government departments, environment agencies, councils and scientific organizations to discuss the potential for a major study of Western Port. The meeting garnered support for a new research project to help measure and manage the changes expected to impact on Western Port’s ecological values. It identified current knowledge gaps; how such a study might link with or support other studies and who should be involved.

The PPWCMA held a forum on the 26th September 2007 to introduce the PPWCMA’s four Flagship Projects to supervisors of Honours and PhD student projects. The introductory presentations, the notes from the ensuing discussion, and the list of student project ideas from the PPWCMA, are available below.
The Green Wedge Seminars were held Friday 8 June in South Morang and Monday 25 June, 2007 in Pakenham.
The half day seminars provided participants with an opportunity to hear from community leaders about a range of perspectives and possibilities for the future management of Melbourne's Green Wedges. The seminars will stimulate informed input into the Victorian Government's White Paper on Land and Biodiversity Management.
This free, half-day seminar brought participants up to date with recent water quality research and programs for the Yarra River and was held Friday 15 June 2007 in Doncaster.
PPWCMA held a Native Vegetation Forum for Local Government on the 10 May, 2006. Presentations by speakers at the forum related to the new Victorian Native Vegetation Framework with Regional and Council approaches to net gain / offsets and related issues.
