Bushfire - Introductory session a place to start for landholders

Introductory session a place to start for landholders

The Strathewen Landcare Group, Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority, Nillumbik Shire Council and Department of Primary Industries are running an information session for landholders who were affected by the Black Saturday bushfires.

Why come along?
Rebuilding property after fire is daunting. It is hard to know where to begin and what to do first. In this area, many people have not faced this situation before.
This event will provide valuable information, people that can help and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. It is an introductory session where landholders can get some practical advice and ask questions on pasture, soils, native vegetation, fencing and more.

The day will include presentations from speakers and on-site demonstrations on:

Pasture recovery     Impact on pasture, pasture management and re-sowing if needed
Soil movement         What to expect, how to stabilise your soil and protect your dams
Native vegetation     Understanding the natural recovery process, what to watch out for and  what you can do
Fencing  Looking at the layout of your property

People who are interested to attend should contact Sarah Canham on 9296 4644.
