Help plan ‘Living Links’ for South East Melbourne

Environmental agencies including Melbourne Water, Parks Victoria and South East Water and local councils are working as one to develop a Master Plan for Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs. And local environmental groups and residents of the area are invited to take part.

The ‘Living Links Master Plan’ will identify the most significant natural, recreational/open space and cultural assets in the region and propose opportunities to improve and connect them.
Led by the Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority, the Living Links Master Plan aims to create a web of inter-connected living corridors from the Dandenong Ranges through the urban and industrial areas to the coastal zone of Port Phillip Bay.

There are many local environmental projects linking up the remaining pockets of nature throughout the suburbs. The Master Plan will identify opportunities for more linkages to improve habitat for native birds and animals, while also making these areas more accessible and enjoyable for the local community.

Local residents and community environment group representatives are invited to help ensure all the important assets of the area have been identified, and find out more about the next steps in Living Links Master Plan at two upcoming community workshops.

You can join the Living Links Master Plan community workshops on the following days:
Tuesday 2 June 6.00 pm at the Mt Waverley Youth Centre Meeting Room
 45 Miller Crescent, Mt Waverley
Wednesday 3 June  6.00 pm at the Beaumaris Community Centre Hall
