Protecting our nation’s islands

30 June 2017

From 26th – 28th June, environmental officers from across the country, including PPWCMA’s Environmental Project Coordinator, Andrew Morrison, gathered at Kangaroo Island to discuss feral cat eradication on the nation’s islands, including French Island.

The aim of the three-day workshop was to facilitate knowledge transfer and skill-sharing among all of the islands’ caretakers. They also looked at eradication methods such as radio tracking, cat fences, cage trapping trials and more. Opportunities to collaborate are so important and we look forward to seeing what actions come out of this.

The event was hosted by Natural Resources Kangaroo Island and sponsored by the Australian Government Office of the Threatened Species Commissioner.
