Collaborating for healthy waterways

24 May 2018

The Healthy Waterways Strategy (HWS) draft is almost ready for release to the public. Its priorities are big and it proposes ambitious targets. Many people and organisations will need to collaborate to help it succeed.

So today, forty good minds, including the PPWCMA’s Ian Morgans, met with Melbourne Water to wrestle with the challenge of creating coordinated decision-making and action for the waterways of the Port Phillip and Western Port region.

The HWS also offers many opportunities to incorporate integrated water management and catchment strategy for land and nature conservation to be part of the picture too. The discussion was positive, exciting and made good progress. It showed we have learned a lot and the time is right for this important strategy.

We look forward to being part of further discussions at the HWS Forums in June.
