Landcare Report Card

Each year, the Port Phillip & Westernport CMA produces the Landcare Report Card, which provides a snapshot of environmental volunteering in the Port Phillip and Western Port region.

The Landcare Report Card is compiled on based on data from the Victorian Government’s Landcare Group Health Survey and Victorians Volunteering for Nature Survey, as well as financial reports from the Port Phillip & Westernport CMA and the Department of Land, Water, Environment and Planning.

The report card shares key statistics but more importantly, it shares stories of the achievements of Landcare groups and networks, friends groups.

Please note that the report cards reflect the activities undertaken by surveyed groups only and some figures have been estimated.

Grow West Report Card

Grow West is one of Australia’s most ambitious landscape restoration programs, Grow West works to rejuvenate 10,000ha across Melbourne’s west.

2019-20 was another successful year for Grow West. Its annual planting day saw with 4,000 trees planted by 300 volunteers in Ingliston in July 2019.  23,210 trees were planted and 148.62kg was direct seeded across 17 properties, covering an area of 216.60 hectares.

Living Links Report Card

Living Links is an urban nature program that’s helping people to connect with nature by creating a web of green spaces across Melbourne’s south-east.

in 2019-20, Living Links partners maintained or established 7,808 hectares of native vegetation; planted over 286,000 native plants; enhanced over 274 kilometres of riparian vegetation; improved 24.5 kilometres of recreation trails; and supported volunteers to spend over 7000 hours caring for the environment.

Yarra4Life Report Card

Yarra4Life is a major environmental program that connects ecosystems and people to improve habitat for threatened species the Yarra Valley.

In 2019-20, Yarra4Life and its partners delivered the Australian Government funded Great HeHo Escape project. Through this they delivered 2 habitat restoration plans, 420 hectares of pest animal control (deer), 50 hectares of weed control, 0.8 hectares of revegetation, and had 20 landowners participate in habitat restoration.
