The 2019 Melbourne Water Kids Teaching Kids conference kicked off today and the Port Phillip & Westernport CMA is proud to support two schools – Point Cook P-9 College and St Louis de Montfort’s School – to participate in and present at the conference.
Point Cook P-9 College: The Journey of a Godwit – The Wonder of Migratory Shorebirds
Point Cook students raised awareness of the incredible journey’s migratory shorebirds make every year to and from the Port Phillip (western shoreline) Ramsar site. They also shared project work the school has undertaken through the year on migratory shorebirds.
Their attendance was supported through a Victorian Government Our Catchments, Our Communities Leadership Grant.
St Louis de Montfort’s School: Times Fun When You’re Having Flies
St Louis de Montfort’s in Aspendale is surrounded by water, with a wetlands at the rear of the school and swales and ponds meandering through the school ground.
Students shared their experiences of learning about and monitoring the amphibians living in their ponds.
Their attendance was supported by Living Links as part of their Ambassador School Program.
